The series continues and, as with the author's debut novel, will keep the reader on the tip of their literary toes。 The plethora of insider 'Amish life' details, those details the author has experienced personally, provide foundational structure to the continuing storyline and this novel's interconnected pathways。 We also experience twists and turns that surprise the reader with unpredictability。 Transition between scenes flows smoothly as does detailed descriptiveness。We find an eighteen-year-o The series continues and, as with the author's debut novel, will keep the reader on the tip of their literary toes。 The plethora of insider 'Amish life' details, those details the author has experienced personally, provide foundational structure to the continuing storyline and this novel's interconnected pathways。 We also experience twists and turns that surprise the reader with unpredictability。 Transition between scenes flows smoothly as does detailed descriptiveness。We find an eighteen-year-old woman struggling between forces, a struggle where choices must be made and endured, a struggle where consequences must be weighed against the scale of 'English' justice and the Amish way of life, struggles between community and self。 Those with similar experiences will feel what this novel's character feels and see as she sees, when religious 'tradition' deviates from the clear direction found within the sixty-six books of the Holy Bible。The Prologue of this novel certainly stimulated excitement for me to see "what comes next。" It opens with essential background information and progresses onward with explanations relating to the Amish church ordination ritual - details which include leadership qualifications, processes involved for elections, and the collective beliefs held related to these elections。 Then, chapter by chapter, the story unfolds, gently salted with relevant reminders as to the first novel's related happenings, refreshing the reader's memory along the way。- A Reflective Contemplation I had while reading:"。。。and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in them。" -1 John 3:15b 。。。more
